Adequate Records

The proof that truck drivers need to justify their deductible employee business expenses and travel expenses are referred to by the IRS as "adequate records". Adequate records of any trucking expense should be in the form of an account book, diary, statement of expense, logbook, or similar record. Truckers should also keep documentary evidence that, together with your record, will support each element of an expense. If a trucker prepares a record in a computer memory device with the aid of a logging program, it is considered an adequate record.
